BOOK BLURB TAKEN FROM GOODREADS:
Zoe Whittaker is living a charmed life. She is the beautiful young wife to handsome, charming Wall Street tycoon Henry Whittaker. She is a member of Manhattan’s social elite. She is on the board of one of the city’s most prestigious philanthropic organizations. She has a perfect Tribeca penthouse in the city and a gorgeous lake house in the country. The finest wine, the most up-to-date fashion, and the most luxurious vacations are all at her fingertips.
What no one knows is that five years ago, Zoe’s life was in danger. Back then, Zoe wasn’t Zoe at all. Now her secrets are coming back to haunt her. As the past and present collide, Zoe must decide who she can trust before she—whoever she is—vanishes completely.
The Vanishing Year combines the classic sophistication of Ruth Rendell and A.S.A. Harrison with the thoroughly modern flair of Jessica Knoll. Told from the point-of-view of a heroine who is as relatable as she is enigmatic, The Vanishing Year is an unforgettable new novel by a rising star of the genre.
A first from Kate Moretti and boy was it good! 😉
The writing is very gripping, I must credit the author for that, it definitely kept me on the edge to find out what the hell is going to happen next!? I felt like I was living a dual life – my real one and the one beautifully hosted by Kate Moretti. It is an engrossing thriller about families and relationships that have too many dirty secrets for their own good, ha-ha! While I was devouring the story, I couldn’t help but notice the slight, although a vivid resemblance to the epic psychological thriller REBECCA. I’m not complaining because I loved Rebecca and anything mildly inspired by that tale only intrigues me.
The single place where this otherwise mind blowing thriller led me down was that some parts of it were overly described, but then again, maybe it was necessary to create the bond between the protagonist and the readers? Could be!
Arriving to the twist part, I HATE to make the right guess, but unfortunately here I made the right guess 😓😓 and it happens so that I lost my “omg what” moment!
Overall, it is an interesting book which will keep you on the edge of your seat to jump right to the bottom of matters. Savour it!
Everyone wants to be loved for who they are, even if we keep our true selves locked up and hidden. It’s a nice little fantasy to believe that the right person holds the key and all the things you do not say are just somehow, magically, known.- Kate Moretti
He’s nearly perfect. But is he good?-Kate Moretti
Ideas are infallible, people are not. – Kate Moretti
I’ve always been fascinated with fashion: apparels, shoes, bags, nail wear, etc. What I admire most about fashion is that, it is a more direct and explicit means of showcasing one’s personality to the world.
The definition of fashion and style varies substantially from one person to another and that is fab, because it inspires creativity and innovation to envision different patterns and styles from the same piece of material. The domain is wide and promotes experimenting to create stunning designs.
Recently, I’ve been looking at different pictures of a few evening gowns and found a couple of these breathtaking pieces. The sequins, the hint of shimmer and a dash of classy bling makes a perfect blend for my tastes. I would love to own at least one of these gowns for my graduation – it would be splendid!
Here are my top 5 choices!
Do have a look below and tell me what’s your take on them?
Wisdom arrived late, at least better than never
I understood that I cannot control a few things, one way or another
The only evidence of my past is my memories of it
Some of the painful ones are etched in mind down to every bit
But, I’m the master of my mind
I’ll choose my memories wisely, not from the same old grind
This time the choice will be mine
And, with myself, I resolve to be kind
It’s so easy for us to assume and make an opinion about people and stubbornly stick to it that we fail miserably to see the other side of the situation. Those judgments might just be in ‘good humor’ or ‘just a friendly remark’ as we may sometimes sugar coat it in order to appear saintly, but once a judgement comes out of our mouth and if it hurts someone’s feelings, even a little, then there’s nothing friendly about it.
And, if we get a faintest idea that we might have offended someone with our light remarks, then genuinely apologizing would be the best for the time. But, as the saying goes –
Prevention is better than cure.
Analyze before you speak! It takes some time and effort, but it will definitely improve our relationships. 😊
Lately, relationships are a lot on my mind and their functionality as well, hence my boy-girl centric quotes. I think human relationships are very intriguing to write and talk about because of their intricate and delicate threads of emotions which have inspired some of the best poems – both melancholic and of bliss. 👀
I thank my lovely friends – Azra from (https://www.simpleserenity.wordpress.com) & Kiwi Beaumont from (https://www.seasonal-rose.com) For considering me for the special awards. Honestly, recognition feels amazing (:
Azra: I enjoy reading all her reviews on cosmetics and skincare. She keeps it truthful and simple which is fabulous. 😊
Kiwi Beaumont: I can safely say that she has an interesting mix of content to offer to her readers which is quite engaging. I really like how she doesn’t narrow it down to similar posts, but offers something different every time. 😊
My advice for new bloggers:
Be yourself and write about what you truly care. At the end of the day, it’s not about the followers or the likes; instead it’s about what message you are sending across or post you are putting out there as it will be a reflection of you and your personality. Connecting with fellow bloggers – genuinely reading others’ post and commenting your views will not only earn you friends and followers, but it will also inspire you to write better. That’s a complete win-win according to me.😇
So, leave all your dilemmas and trepidation behind and post those closeted poems and fiction you wrote and assumed that they’re not worth posting for an audience. Blah. They’re always worth it. Don’t deprive us from the magic of words, people!
